Mr. Spiess completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego, Eleanor Roosevelt College, where he received his Bachelor of Art Degree, cum laude, in 1998. While at the University of California, San Diego, Mr. Spiess became a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation's oldest undergraduate honors organization.  He then accepted a trustee scholarship from California Western School of Law, where he received his J.D., cum laude, in 2002.  While in law school, Mr. Spiess earned American Jurisprudence/Academic Achievement Awards in Legal Writing, Evidence Advocacy and Property II. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2002, to the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of California in 2003, and the Central District of California in 2007.  Mr. Spiess is a member of the San Diego County Bar and Defense Lawyers Associations as well as the Association of Business Trial Lawyers of San Diego. Mr. Spiess practices in the areas of business litigation, professional liability defense, real property litigation, general civil litigation and appellate practice.
