Ms. Nation completed her undergraduate work at the University of Oklahoma, where she obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1983 with a minor in Petroleum Land Management.  Ms. Nation graduated cum laude in 1990 from California Western School of Law, where she received the Trustees'Award and the Corpus Juris Secundum Award, given to the outstanding student in the second and third year classes.   Ms. Nation was also a member of the California Western Law Review, achieved the Dean's Honor Roll five semesters and received American Jurisprudence Awards in Constitutional Law and Civil Procedure.  Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Nation was a partner in the Litigation Department at Gray Cary (now DLA Piper), and a member of the Labor and Employment Practice Group at Heller Ehrman.   Ms. Nation has extensive federal and state court trial and litigation experience, including class actions, in all aspects of employment claims, and she has litigated and tried matters involving trade secrets, unfair competition, false advertising, general business disputes, bad faith, fraud, defamation and first amendment rights.  She also litigates and tries claims for unpaid overtime and penalties.  In addition to her trial and litigation practice, Ms. Nation advises, counsels and negotiates in the area of executive employment contracts and non-disclosure agreements, covering topics such as non-competition, non-solicitation and protecting intellectual property.   Ms. Nation also counsels employers on a wide variety of employment issues, conducts corporate/workplace investigations, and serves as a witness and trains on the topics of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation and diversity.  In recent years, Ms. Nation's clients have included medical device companies, specialty insurance companies, public institutions, non-profit institutions, real estate companies and those providing ancillary services, key executives, large retail and wholesale retailers and general business concerns.  She is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association (Employment Law Section), State Bar of California (Employment Law Section), the William Enright Inn of Court, and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.  Ms. Nation also serves as a Trustee of the Board, La Jolla Community Church.
