Mr. Deitz focuses his practice on complex litigation, including professional liability matters, contested trusts and estates, and class action litigation. He has tried a number of bench and jury trials to a conclusion. Mr. Deitz has also successfully utilized motions for summary judgment/summary adjudication and motions pursuant to California’s anti-SLAPP statute to cost-effectively dispose of litigation prior to trial. Mr. Deitz did his undergraduate work at the University of Missouri-Columbia, graduating with a Bachelor of Journalism Degree and with a minor in History. He continued his education at the University of Missouri School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor Degree in 1996. While in law school, Mr. Deitz interned with the Missouri Court of Appeals-Western District. Mr. Deitz practiced in the St. Louis, Missouri area for more than five years, where he tried a number of cases before a jury. He successfully briefed and argued the case of Wolverton v. McCracken (2001) 321 Ill.App.3d 440, which permits fees paid to an expert witness to be taxed as costs by a prevailing party. He is admitted to the Missouri Bar, the Illinois State Bar and the federal district courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois. He was admitted to the State Bar of California and the Southern District of California in 2002, and the Central District of California in 2004. Mr. Deitz is a Barrister in the American Inns of Court, Louis M. Welsh Chapter, and is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the Missouri Bar. Mr. Deitz served as a member of the Board of Directors for the San Diego Barristers Club and is a volunteer with San Diego Teen Court. He practices in the areas of professional liability defense and general civil litigation.
